Visit to the National Society of the Colombian Red Cross

Within the framework of the Inter-American Regional Committee (CORI) that took place on March 10 and 11 of this year in Colombia, Dr. Francesco Rocca, President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, arrived in Colombia together with Dr. Miguel Ángel Villarroel, International Vice President of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies for the Americas, and Dr. Martha Keays, Regional Director for the Americas, who since their arrival in the country have fulfilled a strategic agenda to deal with different issues of the humanitarian field in favor of vulnerable communities.

The agenda began with a visit to the National Society of the Colombian Red Cross, in which Dr. Francesco Rocca recognized the work carried out by the Colombian Red Cross to meet the humanitarian needs of Colombia, and also affirmed the commitment of the National Government to help Venezuelan migrants and recognize their value with the Protection Statute. Dr. Miguel Villarroel International Vice President of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies for the Americas made an intervention stating: “I feel a deep pride and pleasure to be at the National Headquarters of the Colombian Red Cross, I feel at home, because I meet a great leader of the continent whom I admire for the effort she has made to form a group of Volunteers, staff and people who love this Institution”
