On September 3, 2025, in light of the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza and considering that the Famine Evaluation Committee of the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) has elevated its classification to phase 5, the most severe level on the food insecurity scale, an extraordinary meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies was held.
Dr. Miguel Villarroel, Vice President of the International Federation, participated in this virtual session, who, together with the other members of the Board, analyzed the possible alternatives for cooperation and response to the humanitarian crisis affecting the population of Gaza and its surrounding areas.
