On July 13, 2022, Dr. Miguel Villarroel (Vice President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies), awarded the highest distinction of the Venezuelan Red Cross, the Augusto Pinot medal and its respective diploma, to Rector Juan Romo, received by Vice-rector Marisa Gonzalez Cuellar, Professor Carlos Fernández Liesa and Jesús Eduardo Troconis Heredia (former Venezuelan parliamentarian), both professors of International Law and directors of the Mario Villarroel Chair of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights , founded in the times of the unforgettable Rector – Founder of the Carlos III University, Mr. Gregorio Peces Barba, who died 10 years ago and recently extolled his legacy to the Democracy of Spain.
