April the 5th and the 6th, 2013
The Rome Conference was held on the 5th and the 6th of April 2013, with the participation of 12 African National Societies, 6 Latin American and Caribbean National Societies, and several European National Societies invited as observers. This conference was a successful event which dwelt on the future cooperation among National Societies from the two continents. The meeting was chaired by the President of the Italian Red Cross, Francesco Rocca and Abbas Guillet as a Secretary.
The opening ceremony was attended by the representative of the Italian Ministry of Cooperation, Bruno Antonio Pasquino. The minister of Humanitarian Affairs also attended the meeting and made a brilliant declaration. During this conference, Dr. Villarroel took the floor and delivered a speech which contributed to a large extend to the elaboration of the final document, called the Rome Communiqué.
The conference was a total success and allowed guests to enjoy from the magnificent hospitality and impeccable organization of the Italian Red Cross.
