Visit to the National Society of Antigua and Barbuda

On November 30, 2017,

Dr. Miguel Villarroel, made the First official visit as Vice President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, to the National Society of Antigua and Barbuda. During this visit, Dr. Villarroel met with Mr. Michael Joseph, President of the Red Cross of Antigua and Barbuda, where he analyzed the current situation and programs executed by that national society after Hurricane Irma.

Afterwards, a shelter was visited, located outside Saint John (Cricquet Stadium) where that national society carries out assistance work for more than 180 people.

Then he held a meeting with the volunteers of the national society where he was able to address words of solidarity and support from the President of the IFRC, Mr. Francesco Rocca, for the extraordinary work done.

The visit to Relatives of the Former President of the National Society Mr. Gerald Price was also made.

The day ended with a meeting with members of the National Society, Michael Joseph (President), Elvis Murray-Watkins (Managing Director and Project Manager) and members of the IFRC Brennan Bank (Chief of Operations) and Alejandra Van Hensbergen (General RIT Operation Hurricane Irma Antigua and Barbuda and St Kitts and Nevis)
